Situated just outside of the Teulada-Moraira, along the coast road to Calpe, Algas Bar is a particular favourite with the well-heeled locals. Nestled in amongst the rocks, on the shore of a pebbled cove, with the most stunning view across the bay to Moraira and El Portet, Algas Bar is the perfect place to sit and escape the midday sun with a cold drink and a plate of fresh, grilled fish.
Descending the half a dozen steps down from the car park, the terrace of Algas Bar spreads itself widely across the rocks. To one end of the restaurant is the circular, glass-walled bar, serving a variety of beers, spirits, wines, coffees (try the Cafe Cortado with a large brandy – superb!) and soft-drinks. Behind the bar area is another terrace with a barbeque, where, in the summer, the smoky aroma from the grilled fresh fish, caught that morning and bought from Moraira market, is sure to entice any foodie.
To the other end of the restaurant, tables and chairs are spread out under wooden umbrellas, where locals and tourists enjoy a drink and a chat: you can often hear the locals putting the world to rights!
The Algas Bar serves traditional snacks and lunches during the day and has a wide and varied menu to suit all tastes during the evening. Booking is recommended as The Algas Bar, once found, is never forgotten.
