The Moors and Christians festival is one of the most popular Spanish festivals. Based on the ancient battles between the Moorish attackers and the Christian defenders, the festival celebrates the final success of the Christians in driving the attacking Moors away.

The Moors and Christians festivals are lively affairs, with carnival parades, music and battle re-enactments. usually held on the beach, they attract lots of visitors keen on viewing this colourful spectacle.
