Spanish Fiesta ¦ Spanish Festival ¦ Holiday Event
For those that have never been, a Spanish fiesta is an unforgettable event. Most start in the morning with the locals going to church to provide thanks for the fiesta and the produce. The ceremony is preceded with the church bells ringing a prolonged and pronounced chime, announcing the ceremony’s start.
After church, the fiesta itself starts with a procession through the streets, with the local children dressed in bright costumes, followed by a float with more children dressed as saints and other religious deities, as the adults cheer and proudly seek out their own children.
Following the parade, the fiesta’s main event begins: the food! Long tables run the length of the main street into the town square, where more tables are laid out, with platters and bowls bursting with aromatic and colourful food. Local bar owners throw open the doors, from where bottle after bottle of local wine is served as families and friends feast on the magnificent paella.
After the meal is washed down and the tables tidied away, the fireworks and the bonfire are lit, heralding the start of the evening celebrations. Loud music, both traditional and modern, fills the streets and bounces of the walls of the old houses. Children chase one another through the streets, while their parents dance and their grandparents occupy the benches around the square, talking and reminiscing, remembering when they too danced and ran through the streets. A Spanish fiesta, for the locals, truly is a family event; for the tourist, it will be one of the most memorable days of your holiday, one you will recollect for years to come.

Teulada Moraira Costa Blanca
Teulada Moraira
Teulada Moraira is a small holiday village in the Marina Alta area of Costa Blanca. It is located between Calpe and Denia and has a population of approximately 11,000 inhabitants. It truly is an ideal location for your holiday rental apartment or villa. Teulada is famous for its Moscatel vineyards and wine production.
Teulada Moraira has three town squares worth visiting from your holiday rental apartment. The newest and largest of these is Plaza de la Constitucion. The town hall and police station are located here as a re a number of small, local bars and cafe’s where you can watch the world go by whilst enjoying a coffee and a delightful cake. The second of Teulada Moraira’s town squares is the Plaza de la Creu. The square is unique as it still has ‘The Sea Doorway’; part of the original doorway in the wall which surrounded the town in medieval times. The last of the town squares in Teulada Moraira is the Church Square, which for almost any and all villages, towns and cities even nowadays, is the centre and most valued property for all locals.
The Bodega Cooperativa San Vicente Ferrer near the church is where you can taste and buy the famous Spanish Muscatel which is unique in all of Spain. Some other goods to look for would be the wicker furniture or objects, handbags and wrought iron articles and raisins all in close proximity of your self catering villa or town house.
Teulada is also close to the beach resort area of Moraira if a day in the sun is your fancy. It is easy to reach from your holiday rental villa or apartment and as most Costa Blanca beaches offers much to do. Windsurfing, kite-surfing and most general beach activities are on tap for your enjoyment.
As Teulada Moraira is located in the most easterly region of Spain, it enjoys a typically Mediterannean climate with 300+ days of sunshine per year. The World Health Organisation has described the Marina Alta region, of which Teulada Moraira is one the principal towns, as having one of the most environmentally perfect climates in the world. It is enjoyably hot during the summer and comfortably mild during the winter. The cooling, on-shore breeze ensures the summer heat never becomes unbearable and the stunning, mountains that shoulder the region, keep the cold, northerly wind at bay, ensuring winter temperatures are higher than those of other Costa Blanca towns.
In keeping with the rest of the Costa Blanca, there are many very good golf course for you to enjoy a few holes. Costa Blanca Golf has details of many of the best of these courses.
